How Much Does Oven Repair Cost in Atlanta?
Two price tiers, depending on the oven
Not every oven takes the same work to diagnose and repair, so our price list splits them into two groups.
- Freestanding and slide-in ranges: $80 diagnostic, repairs from $180 plus parts.
- Built-in wall ovens, double ovens and oven-microwave combos: $120 diagnostic, repairs from $250 plus parts.
In both cases the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair when you go ahead, and you receive a written estimate before any work. Premium brands such as Wolf, Thermador and Viking are quoted on site.
Why built-in and double ovens cost more to service
A range slides out from the wall, and most parts can be reached from the back or through the oven cavity. A wall oven is set into cabinetry, so many repairs mean sliding a heavy unit partway out of its cutout and supporting it while the technician works.
Double ovens add a second cavity with its own elements, sensor and wiring, and combo units add a microwave section with high-voltage parts. More components and more handling explain the higher diagnostic and starting price. The written estimate still shows exactly what the job includes.
Parts that drive most oven repair bills
- Bake and broil elements on electric ovens. A visible break or blister on the element is a common sign.
- Igniters on gas ovens. A weak igniter glows but never lets the burner light.
- Temperature sensors, which cause ovens to run hot, cold or show an error.
- Control boards and touch panels, usually the most expensive common part.
- Door hinges, gaskets and self-clean door locks.
Our article on an oven not heating explains these causes, and GE owners can check our GE oven error codes guide. If you smell gas, leave the home and call your gas utility from outside.
Repair or replace the oven?
Ranges and wall ovens commonly last about 13 to 15 years, and gas models often run a little longer. By the 50 percent rule, if a repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new oven, or the oven is near the end of its expected life, replacement deserves a serious look.
Built-in ovens change the math. A new wall oven has to match the existing cutout, and if it does not, you may face cabinet work on top of the purchase. That is why repairing a built-in is often the better value even when the part is expensive. Our repair or replace guide goes deeper.
What happens during an oven service visit
For a range, the technician turns off the power or gas, slides the unit out and reaches the parts from the back or through the cavity. For a wall oven, the unit is eased forward out of its cutout and supported so the wiring and components can be tested safely.
Elements, igniters and sensors are tested with a meter rather than replaced on a hunch, and the technician checks how accurately the oven holds its set temperature. You then get a written estimate. Common parts are often on the truck. Control boards and premium-brand parts are sometimes special orders, and if so we schedule the return visit with you.
Before you book
- Check that the breaker for an electric oven has not tripped, and that a gas oven is getting power for its igniter and controls.
- Look for a control lock or Sabbath mode that may be turned on.
- Note the model number, usually on a label around the oven door frame or behind the storage drawer.
- Avoid running self-clean on an oven that already has a fault, since the high heat can stress weak parts.

Why is the wall oven diagnostic $120 instead of $80?
Built-in wall ovens, double ovens and combo units take more time to access and test than a freestanding range. The $120 is credited toward the repair if you go ahead.
How much does it cost to replace an oven element?
On a standard range, repairs start from $180 plus parts; on a built-in or double oven, from $250 plus parts. The element price depends on the model and is listed on your written estimate.
Is it worth fixing an oven control board?
Often, especially on a built-in or premium oven, where replacement may require cabinet changes. On an older basic range near the end of its life, a new range may be the better value.
