KitchenAid is a favorite in Atlanta kitchens for its build quality and finishes, and its dishwashers in particular are everywhere. When a KitchenAid stops working, most failures come down to well-known parts that can be tested and replaced without guesswork.
Mr. Fixer repairs KitchenAid dishwashers, refrigerators, ranges, wall ovens and cooktops and garbage disposals. Our trucks carry common Whirlpool-family parts, so many repairs are completed in one visit.
About KitchenAid appliances
KitchenAid began in 1919 with its stand mixer, made by the Hobart company, and Hobart later developed KitchenAid dishwashers for the home. Whirlpool Corporation acquired KitchenAid in 1986, and today the brand sits between Whirlpool and Jenn-Air in the company's lineup. KitchenAid major appliances share much of their engineering with Whirlpool and Maytag, including dishwasher pumps and controls, refrigerator defrost systems and oven sensors. That keeps parts widely available, while finishes, racks and some trim pieces are specific to KitchenAid models.

Common KitchenAid problems we fix
Dishwasher lights blinking and cycle will not run
On many KitchenAid dishwashers, a pattern of blinking lights signals a fault the control has detected, often related to water temperature, drain or the door latch. We read the fault, then confirm it with testing rather than replacing the control first.
Dishwasher not draining or cleaning
Newer KitchenAid dishwashers use removable filters that clog if they are not rinsed. A blocked filter, failing drain pump or weak wash motor leads to standing water and gritty dishes.
French-door fridge warm or ice maker stuck
Defrost problems, evaporator fan failures and ice makers that freeze up are common on KitchenAid French-door models. We check the defrost system before discussing anything bigger.
Wall oven not reaching temperature
A failed bake or broil element, a temperature sensor out of range or a convection fan that stopped are the usual causes. Hidden-element ovens require more disassembly, and we plan for that on the first visit.
Gas range burner or oven igniter failing
Weak oven igniters and burner spark problems are common on KitchenAid gas ranges. A slow-to-light oven is a sign the igniter is wearing out.
Garbage disposal jammed or leaking
A KitchenAid disposal that hums without grinding is usually jammed by a hard object or fibrous scraps. Leaks from the sink flange can be resealed, but a leak from the body of the unit usually means it is time to replace it.
KitchenAid tips from our technicians
- Rinse the dishwasher filters once a month. Many KitchenAid owners do not realize their dishwasher has removable filters until performance starts to slip.
- Run the hot water at your kitchen sink before starting the dishwasher. Starting with hot water helps cleaning and drying.
- Keep the ice maker turned off if your fridge is not connected to a water line, otherwise the fill valve can run dry and wear out.
KitchenAid repair FAQs
Why does my KitchenAid dishwasher leave a film on glasses?
Common causes are a clogged filter, low water temperature, hard water or a rinse aid dispenser that is empty. If the problem persists after you clean the filter, the wash pump or heater may need attention. Our dirty dishes guide explains more.
Are KitchenAid parts expensive?
Most internal parts are shared with Whirlpool and Maytag, which keeps them affordable and available. Trim pieces and racks can cost more. We quote in writing before ordering.
Do you repair KitchenAid stand mixers?
No. We focus on major home appliances: dishwashers, refrigerators, ranges, ovens, cooktops and garbage disposals.
