GE Appliances may be the most common brand we see in Metro Atlanta homes. Builders install GE packages in new subdivisions, and older homes often have GE refrigerators and ranges that have been running for years. Whether your kitchen has a basic GE range or a Monogram suite, we repair the whole family.
Mr. Fixer services GE refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers, ranges, wall ovens and cooktops and garbage disposals. Our trucks carry many common GE parts, so a lot of repairs finish the same visit.
About GE appliances
GE Appliances is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, and has been owned by Haier since 2016. It sells several brands that share engineering: GE for mainstream models, GE Profile for added features, Café for design-forward kitchens with customizable hardware, and Monogram for luxury built-ins. Hotpoint and the Haier brand in the US also come from GE Appliances. For repairs, that shared design means many pumps, igniters, sensors, valves and boards overlap across lines, and GE parts are among the easiest to source in the country. Monogram and Café trim and some control parts are more specialized.
GE appliances we repair
Common GE problems we fix
Side-by-side fridge warm, freezer fine
On many GE side-by-side and French-door models, this points to an evaporator fan, a defrost failure or, on some older units, a main control board that stops powering the fans or compressor. We test the board and fans before replacing anything.
Ice maker stopped or leaking
GE ice makers commonly fail from a frozen fill tube, a weak water valve or a worn ice maker module. Door-ice models on French-door fridges can also ice up inside the ice compartment.
Oven shows an F-code or will not heat
GE ovens display F-codes that commonly relate to the temperature sensor, a stuck key on the touchpad or a control fault. We confirm with meter testing, since swapping a board on a guess is expensive.
Dishwasher not draining or not drying
Clogged filters, a failing drain pump or a heater element problem are typical on GE and Profile dishwashers. We also check the door latch switch, which can stop a cycle without much warning.
Top-load washer will not spin
A failing lid lock, a worn drive component or a clogged pump will stop the spin on many GE top-loaders. We check for an unbalanced load first, then test the lock and drain path.
Dryer noisy or not heating
Worn drum rollers, an idler pulley or a broken belt cause most noise complaints. For no-heat calls, a thermal fuse, element or gas igniter is the usual culprit, with vent airflow checked at the same time.
GE tips from our technicians
- Find the model tag before calling. On GE refrigerators it is usually inside the fresh-food section on a side wall, and on ranges it is often on the frame behind the storage drawer or oven door.
- If a GE garbage disposal hums without turning, switch it off at the wall, then use the hex key slot on the bottom center of the unit if yours has one to free the jam. Never reach into the drain.
- Clean the dishwasher filter on GE models that have a removable one. Newer GE dishwashers rely on it more than older self-grinding designs did.
GE repair FAQs
Do you work on Café and Monogram appliances?
Yes. We repair GE, GE Profile, Café and Monogram appliances. Café and Monogram units often share core parts with GE Profile models, while some trim and controls are ordered by model number.
Is GE still an American company?
GE Appliances is based in Louisville, Kentucky, and has been owned by Haier since 2016. It continues to design and build many appliances in the US.
What happens if my GE repair fails again?
Our GE repairs are covered for 60 days on parts and 60 days on labor. If the same fault shows up again inside that window, call us and we return to make it right under the warranty.
