How the diagnostic fee works
The diagnostic covers a technician visit to your home, testing and a clear explanation of what failed. Before any repair, you get a written estimate with the full price for parts and labor.
If you approve the repair, the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair, so you are not paying for the visit twice. If you decide not to go ahead, you pay only the diagnostic. Repairs come with a 60-day parts and 60-day labor warranty.
What is quoted separately
Some work varies too much to put a starting number on, so we price it in writing after we see the job.
- Parts. Every repair price is plus parts, because a door switch and a control board are very different purchases.
- Premium and built-in brands such as Sub-Zero, Wolf and Thermador.
- Sealed-system work, including compressors and refrigerant leaks.
- Garbage disposal repair and appliance installation, which depend on the unit, plumbing and setup.
What raises or lowers any repair bill
- The failed part and whether it is mechanical or electronic.
- Access. Built-in, stacked and tightly fitted appliances take longer to reach.
- Related damage. One failure can cause another, such as a clogged vent burning out a dryer fuse.
- Timing. Small problems caught early usually cost less than the bigger failures they lead to.
Our article on common appliance repair issues explains many of these patterns.
Getting an accurate estimate faster
A little preparation helps the technician arrive with the right parts and finish on the first visit more often.
- Find the model and serial number. Look inside the door frame of refrigerators, dishwashers and washers, behind the storage drawer on ranges, or on the back panel.
- Describe the symptom precisely. Note any error code, sounds, smells, and when the problem started.
- Clear the area. Room to pull the appliance out saves time.
- Plan for the schedule. Technicians work Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM, and you can book online or by phone at any hour.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle and cash, and our offices in Kennesaw, Roswell, Atlanta and Cumming cover areas across the metro.
Repair or replace: the 50 percent rule and lifespans
A simple guideline: if a repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new appliance, or the appliance is near the end of its typical life, replacing it is usually the better value. Typical lifespans:
- Refrigerators: about 10 to 15 years
- Ranges, stoves and ovens: about 13 to 15 years
- Washers and dryers: about 10 to 13 years
- Dishwashers: about 9 to 12 years
- Microwaves: about 7 to 10 years
Built-in and premium appliances often favor repair because replacements may require cabinet changes. Our repair vs. replacement guide covers the decision, and when you call (678) 866-3669 or book online, the technician will give you an honest recommendation.
FAQs
Is the diagnostic fee charged on top of the repair?
No. When you approve the repair, the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair. You only pay it on its own if you decide not to proceed.
Why do built-in ovens and microwaves have a $120 diagnostic?
They take more time to access and test safely. Built-in units sit in cabinetry, and microwaves contain high-voltage parts that must be handled carefully before testing.
Do you give a price over the phone?
We can share our diagnostic fees and starting repair prices. The exact cost depends on which part failed, so the full price comes as a written estimate after diagnosis.
